<p>Commissioned as part of the Queen's Golden Jubilee, and designed to highlight the rich contribution of Commonwealth peoples to the culture of Britain, a programme of visits and workshops by Commonwealth artists culminating in the Jubilee Parade with 4,000 participants. </p> <P>The Parade participants were drawn from many areas and included artists, arts, education sports, community and refugee groups. </p> <p>Commissioner/Funders: Commissioned by The Commonwealth Institute; funded by the Department of Culture, Media and Sport, London Arts (through the Spirit of Friendship Festival) and the British Council. Commonwealth Visiting Artists: From South Africa, three N'debele artists: Betty Baby Masanabo, Isa Slinga Kabeni, Nontile Leah Msiza. Four New Zealand Maori Te Puru o Tamaki, Kapa Haka Performers: Esther Davis, Piripi Davis, Papatuanuku Nahi, Piripi Menary. From Bangalore in South India, three Billboard Artists: Jothilingam Murugayan, Asivel Kumaran Visvesvara, Shankar Ayyamani. From Delhi in India: Navtej Johar, Choreographer and Dancer and renowned contemporary Fashion Designer Rina Dhaka. In addition Ayan Agalu a Masquerade group from Nigeria, Red Centre Dreaming Koori performers from Alice Springs in Australia, Ayan Ayandosu, a drumming group from Ghana and Drum Drum an Australian and Pacific Island Drumming Group all took part in the Commonwealth Jubilee Parade. Parade Participants - 4,000 participants took part in the Parade on 4th June in Central London. The groups which participated were: Segment 1 - Flag Bearers and official representatives from each of the 54 Commonwealth nations. Segment 2 - Kingsdale School, Centre for Young Musicians & Mountview, New London Children's Choir, Walbrook Singers. Segment 4 - It Will Grow Back, Expressions in Hair, Miss Jamaica UK, Fariah Alam & A.I.U. models, Pasifik Cultural Association. Segment 5 - Red Centre Dreaming from Alice Springs, Adzido, Amazons Capoeria. Segment 6 - Rwandan Community Association in the UK, VIP Dancers, Peter Hunnigale, ACE Dance & Music, Dona Quadrille Dancers, Emashi / Dakrobi, Gillespie Dance & Leap of Faith, East African Women's Associations, Latin American Elderly Project, London Borough of Harrow and Scorpio the Nemesis, Candoco, Drum Cafe, St Margaret's Church of England School, Pooles Park Primary School, Ethiopian Association, Ayan Agalu. Segment 7 - Brian Kinney, Haringey Turkish Cypriot Cultural Association, Cecil Road Primary School, Rushmore Primary School, WAC, Theatre Royal Stratford East, Moss Side & Hulme Roller Bladers, 19 Squad of the Netball Association. Segment 8 - Gamelan Lilacita, Anglo-Caribbean Domino League, North London Performing Arts Centre, Dhol Academy and Gatka. Segment 9 - Kamalangani Kakayathana, Ayan Ayandosu, Bhavan Centre, N'debele Artists, EKTA Projwect, Pearly Guild, Afro Hollywood, Watford Chinese Association, Adanta, Shree Mukatajeevan. Sement 10 - Drum Drum. Segment 11 - Pom Pom Girls, Kapa Haka Performers, Patidar Association, Jun Mo Wing Chun, Langden School Football Team, Kent Artistic Roller Dance Club, Sunbury Cricket Club, Lilian Baylis School Lambeth, Descendants, East London Kalari Association, Teddington Rugby team, Shishukunj, Gurumu Tae Kwan-do, BICMA, Sai Weekend School. Segment 12 - Akademi Senior Dancers, Satish Shah, Culture Shock Dance, Bhavan Centre Dancers, Jhan Jhar, Jayshree Acherya and Quincy, Kuljeet Bhambra, Yaa Asantewaa, Sharma Dance, Pushkala Gopal, Patidar Associations, Pratap Pawar and Sheela, Mandata Youth, Akademi Staff. 200 SGI-UK Buddhist stewards, The Rainbow Arches Pushers.</p>
